This book explains how to feel channel Qi and determine whether or not the channel Qi is flowing the correct way, or flowing in the patterns characteristic of Parkinson’s disease.

Why you might want to read this book

The most common reason that people with Parkinson’s give for wanting to visit our clinic in Santa Cruz, California is “I don’t know anyone who can feel what the energy in the channels is doing.”

Even though recovering from Parkinson’s is, in most cases, a do-it-yourself proposition, many people with Parkinson’s feel that they need to have their energy (channel Qi) assessed by “professionals.” Some people with Parkinson’s are certain they must make the long trek to Santa Cruz to be seen by a (long-retired) member of the Parkinson’s Treatment Team in order to have someone check their electrical channels to a) confirm their diagnosis of Parkinson’s or b) confirm that they are recovering from Parkinson’s.

Therefore, a few chapters of this textbook on detecting the flow of channel Qi are shared here, for free, so that people will not need to come to Santa Cruz to have their channel Qi checked, if they so desire: a friend can learn to detect the flow of channel Qi using these materials and the patient can be assessed without leaving home.

It is extremely easy to learn how to feel the currents that flow in the channels just under the skin. Not only is there no need for a “professional” to do this, there are very few professionals who know howto do this. Although channel theory is the underpinnings of Chinese medicine, the art of detecting the flow patterns of channel Qi is nota part of the standard training for students of Chinese medicine or acupuncturists. In China and in the west, this art is rarely taught.

This book explains how to feel channel Qi and ascertain if it is running correctly. This book has maps of the channels showing the directions in which the currents are supposed to run when a person is relaxed and healthy. Maps showing the directions of channel Qi flow in Parkinson’s, which are quite different, are included in the book Recovery from Parkinson’s.

Nearly anyone who is willing to spend around twenty hours working at it can learn to detect these currents.

Therefore, we have made excerpts from this book downloadable, here, for free. This includes all the chapters of this book that are helpful for the layman who merely wants to learn how to feel the channel Qi in a spouse or friend with Parkinson’s and the appendix that shows how the channels flow in a person who is very healthy.

These free chapters address the subjects of learning how to feel channel Qi, maps of the acupoints and the channels, and just what “channel Qi” is. This is all that a person needs to know if he merely wants to diagnose and determine the status of a person with Parkinson’s.

If you are interested in learning more about channel theory, the whole text book is available in hard copy. The whole book includes chapters explaining the paths of the channels in each of the four neurological modes, case studies, instructions for using channel findings to make a diagnosis and/or determine acupuncture or herbal treatments, and two chapters of instruction on needling scar tissue.

The 2018 edition of Tracking the Dragon is now available.

Long ago, when I released the previous editions of this book, I was very new to writing book-length material. While working on the 2018 edition, now that I have several more books under my belt, I found myself mortified by the poor writing and editing in the earlier editions of this book, to say nothing of the errors. Please forgive me!

This newest edition, in addition to an enormous amount of new information, benefits from better editing: fewer typos, greater clarity, friendlier font, and corrections to errors of understanding dating back to the late 1990s, when the precursor of this book was first released as a study guide for my students.

A special offer: I am so pleased with the new edition that I am offering to send a free replacement copy of the new edition to anyone who bought an earlier edition.

If you would like a replacement copy, please tear off the front cover of your earlier edition and send it, with your mailing address, to Dr. Janice Hadlock, 90 Brookwood Dr., Santa Cruz, CA, 95065, USA.

I request in return that you discard your old edition so that the outdated information and poor writing quality will not spread further. If you have any questions about the book exchange offer, please email me at [email protected].
